Abstract:
      The effective suppression of negative sequence current in the modular multilevel converter(MMC) is of great significance to improve transmission quality and system stability. With the increasing probability of unbalanced faults in the power grid, the research ideas for MMC control strategies under balanced network are no longer applicable. Therefore, starting from the influencing factors of the internal and external characteristics of MMC, the research status at home and abroad is summarized, and looking forward to the future based on the existing research. Firstly, the similarities and differences of different control strategies under the three control objectives are studied, the variation trend of each electric quantity after the introduction of multi-variable control parameter k is further explained, and the limitations of these methods are pointed out. Secondly, based on the internal characteristics of MMC, the effects of circulation injection and third harmonic injection on the bridge arm current and submodule capacitance voltage are sorted out, and the common problems of related research are analyzed. Finally, through the research comprehensively analyze related issues at home and abroad, it puts forward the current challenges in this field, and makes a prospect for the future direction that needs in-depth exploration.
