Calibration Method of Open Circuit Voltage for Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells

Abstract:
      The open circuit voltage of proton exchange membrane fuel cell is the key index to improve the performance of proton exchange membrane fuel cell. A new method of open circuit voltage calibration for proton exchange membrane fuel cell was studied. The working principle of proton exchange membrane fuel cell was analyzed. The open circuit voltage of proton exchange membrane fuel cell was expressed by Nernst equation. During the calibration of the open circuit voltage, the calibration device is connected to the measurement point, the proton exchange membrane fuel cell sheet is placed on the separator, and the proton exchange membrane fuel cell open circuit voltage is measured simultaneously with the calibration device using the separator's I-V meter. Compare the two groups of non-measuring data, After the calibration coefficient is obtained, according to the factors affecting the open circuit voltage of proton exchange membrane fuel cell, the uncertainties of open circuit voltage calibration after the introduction of irradiance deviation, temperature control deviation and repeatability of measuring instruments are analyzed. Experiments show that the average calibration error of this method is more than 50 % lower than the comparative calibration method, and the average calibration time is 1.77 s lower than the average of the comparative calibration method, indicating that this method can achieve high-precision and high-efficiency proton exchange membrane fuel electromagnetic open circuit voltage calibration.
