Abstract:
      This paper proposes a photovoltaic-battery unit that combines photovoltaic cells and energy storage batteries, and a method to form a PV-battery system that can be flexibly configured and expanded based on this photovoltaic-battery unit. The proposed system has good applicability in the application of solar powered UAVs and airships, which have high requirements on energy utilization and reliability, and the surface illumination distribution of which is uneven. Moreover, it overcomes the disadvantages of centralized or common distributed PV-battery systems, such as poor stability, low capacity utilization and low specific power of mass. Through the research on the structure and control strategy of the pro-posed system, the full utilization of photovoltaic power and energy balance of batteries under arbitrary lighting conditions are realized. Therefore, while ensuring UAV's long-term stable operation, the equipment capacity of the power system can be fully utilized. In this paper, the topology, working principle and control strategy of the proposed system are analyzed, and the effectiveness of the system is verified by experiments.
