Abstract:
      To reduce the adverse impact of the rapid fluctuation of photovoltaic output and grid load on an energy st-orage system(ESS), smoothing algorithm was introduced to the control technology of virtual synchronous generator. First, by establishing a small-signal model which takes the smoothing link into account, the effect of the smoothing algorithm on the power change rate of ESS was verified, and the relationship between the ESS's physical constraints and the smoothing algorithm was deduced. In addition, based on the exploration of the system's output characteristics with different reactive powers, the influence of the smoothing algorithm on the system's capacity to provide reactive power was analyzed. The theoretical deduction and simulation verification show that the introduction of the smoothing algorithm can not only reduce the power change rate of ESS, but also stabilize the system fluctuation and shorten the dynamic response time of the system by designing a proper filter. However, the introduction of smoothing element will also increase the capacity requirements of ESS and decrease the range of reactive power output when the storage capacity is constant.
