Abstract:
In this paper, the power line communication system in smart grid is taken as a research object. To set up the relation between two noise models and compare the signal-to-noise ratio(SNR) between them, two noise models are proposed to simulate the noise environment in power line communication channels, with which the probability density functions of the cyclostationary noise model and the Middleton class-A noise model are used to obtain the noise types of power line communication channel. Meanwhile, through mathematical derivations, the SNR expressions of the two noise models in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(OFDM) system are obtained, and the SNRs are compared between the two noise models using the technology of quadrature amplitude modulation(16 QAM). Finally, MATLAB software is used to conduct system simulation. Simulation results show that the SNR of the cyclostationary noise model is approximately 2.5 dB higher than that of the Middleton class-A noise model, and the reliability of the power line communication system in smart grid is improved, which provides certain theoretical foundation for the research and development of power line communication.
